People often fear when taking photos around this time of year, that the weather's not great or the conditions are not quite right. With Macro photogrpahy this is especially true. A light breeze can cause enough blur and fuzz in a picture to ruin it , the rain and cold mean many invertebrates are nowehere to be seen. However, the weather is not always as bad as you think. Yesterday the skies cleared slightly and the drizzly March rain stopped just long enough for me to finally get around to shooting some pictures (I have been waiting a while!). You do not have to go far to take pictures of invertebrates...
Last month I was fortunate to come runner up in a local photography competition organised by Natural Devon to raise awareness of the importance of local pollinating insects. This is a very important subject at the moment as many Bee species in the UK are in decline and without these pollinators it will be much harder to pollinate crops such as Oilseed rape and Strawberries. However, not all pollinators are Bees and I decided to enter this picture of a Daggerfly (Empididae). I took the picture on the cliffs of Wembury and you can clearly see a couple of different varieties of pollen that it has picked...

During the winter 2014 in the UK a large storm ravaged the southwest. Me and a frien knew the swell would be large from the previous day so we got up before dusk to head down to Bovisand Fort near Plymouth to check it out. Here are some pictures of what we saw:
The swell was hitting the harbour and causing these huge eruptions of water
If you look closely you can see my friend shaun standing in the fofreground which really gives scale to the sixe of the swell
The waves were crashing right over the side of the wall
All in all it was an amazing site and it truely...

Its been a while due to weather conditions and other commitments but on this cold day in November a small bunch of the Civicdaze crew went out filming around Plymouth. Eager to make up for lost/gained time!
After getting kicked off theatre royal by a silver medal snowboarding olympian policeman(apparently!) Luke got things started with this rad hardflip!
We then headed to the uni! Not much skateboarding happened! Alot of talking and delegating where to go did though.
The Ivybridge element was out in force. Heres Baby Ivy, Grandad Ivy and Papa Ivy

Most people have cats or dogs or budgies as pets! Not my friends Dan and Jake oh no. When they found two baby magpies which had fallen from there nest on the roof of a house there good will and kind nature kicked in and they promptly took the baby birds under their wing!
Unfortunately they were only able to save and raise one as the other past away from its injuries, Anyway without further ado i introduce Stimpy the house magpie.
Stimpy on his throne.
Dan and Jake couldnt quite get Stimpy to master his house training skills much to the displeasure of other housemates.
After an eleven hour drive to Morzine for Stew and Liz's wedding it was straight on the party bus of tramp boarding, skateboarding and fun times. Here is a few of the pics i took from the trip. Unfortunately due to matters beyond my control there are not many of the actual wedding:) but there were plenty of other photographers on hand ! but in the meantime these are events that took place around the wedding:
Trampboarding is so fun and i got so many good pics i had to put them all in so bare with me as there will be pics of other stuff!
